Цель урока: совершенствовать коммуникативные умения и навыки учащихся по теме «Стресс и способы борьбы с ним».

Обучающие задачи:

  1. Активизировать лексику по теме «Стресс».

  2. Совершенствовать умения и навыки учащихся в использовании необходимых языковых средства для построения монологических высказываний в соответствии с коммуникативной задачей.

  3. Совершенствовать умения учащихся понимать основное содержание прослушиваемых текстов;

  4. Совершенствовать навыки использования разговорных клише для выражения своего мнения.

Развивающие задачи:

  1. Развивать умение критически осмысливать информацию при чтении и прослушивании текстов.

  2. Развивать умение решать проблемы на основе осмысления чужого и своего опыта.

  3. Развивать умение сотрудничать и работать в группе.

  4. Содействовать развитию творческих способностей учащихся.

Воспитательные задачи:

  1. Воспитывать потребность выстраивать конструктивные взаимоотношения с другими людьми.

  2. Прививать навыки здорового образа жизни.



Оборудование: интерактивная доска, проектор, слайдовая презентация, карточки для выполнения лексического упражнения и задания по аудированию, карточки с домашним заданием, маркеры и бумага для выполнения творческого задания.

Ход урока.
I. Организационный момент.
T: Good morning, girls and boys! Glad to see you. I hope, you are well. So let’s start then.
II. Мотивация учения школьников. Постановка целей и задач урока.

(фаза вызова)
1.Мозговой штурм.

T: Look at the screen. Here is a proverb. Read it and say how you understand it.

Life is not a bеd of roses. (1 слайд)



P1: There are not only happy and pleasant moments in life, there are many problems.

P2: People can face a lot of difficulties on their way. But they shouldn’t give up. They should do their best to overcome them.

T: Now I want you to have a look at these people. What can you say about them? (2 слайд)

P1: They are depressed (stressed out).

P2: They look down (upset).

P3: They look like they are loosing their control.

T: In other words, they are under stress. So what shall we speak about today?

P1: We’ll speak about stress.

T: What would you like to learn about stress?

P1: We’d like to know what stress is.

P2: I’d like to know if stress is dangerous for health.

P3: I want to know what things can cause stress.

P4: I expect to know if we can avoid stress.

T: I think you will find answers to your questions. We are to learn today:

  1. What stress is.

  2. How stress аffects our bodies.

  3. What causes it.

  4. What people should do to cope with stress. (3 слайд)

2а) Активизация лексики (прием « Ассоциации»).

T: You can see the word “stress” on the screen. (4 слайд) Name all the words that come to your mind as you think of this word.

P1, P2: Problem, depression, low self – esteem, reaction to a mess, exam pressure, problems with friends, parents, teachers, hard work, lose control, forgetfulness, headache.

2b) Активизация лексики (выполнение лексического упражнения -фронтальная работа)

T: How clever you are! Let’s revise some more words. There are cards on your desks. The task is to complete the exchanges with the phrases from the list. The exercise is from our RNE. While reading, mind your intonation. (Упр.№3, стр.12, рабочая тетрадь).
III. Применение изученных знаний в новых практических ситуациях. (Фаза осмысления содержания)

1.Развитие навыков чтения с общим пониманием (прием «Инсерт»)
T: Well done. You know a lot of words. Now let’s read an article on stress. While reading make some notes on the margins. Use the following symbols for your notes (слайд 5).

V – for information which is not new for you;

+ – for new information;

? – for information you didn’t understand, you have questions.

(учащиеся читают 2 минуты текст про себя)
T: While analyzing the information from the text use the following phrases:

V – I knew that…..

+ – it is new for me that….

? – I don’t understand….; I don’t know why, how….



T: What information was not new for you?

P1: I knew that stress is typical of modern life.

P2: I knew that there are some changes in people’s body because of stress.

P3: I knew that people can have headache because of stress.

T: What new information have you learned?

P1: It is new for me that many teenagers are under stress nowadays.

P2: It is new for me that not all stress is bad.

P3: It is new for me that a little stress can keep you on your toes.

T: What information you don’t understand?

P1: I don’t understand how people can cope with stress.

P2: I don’t know how people can control their feelings.

P3: I don’t quite understand how I can deal with my negative emotions.
2. Развитие навыков чтения с извлечением специальной информации.

T: Scan the text again for a few minutes (учащиеся просматривают текст).

Now let’s come back to the first item of our discussion. Give a definition of stress and some general information about it. (повторить 3 слайд гиперссылка)



P1: Stress is the way our bodies and minds react to life’s changes.

P2: Stress is a person’s reaction to a mess.

P3: Stress is the emotional and physical strain.

P3: Stress is common to both people and animals.

P4: Not all stress is bad.

P5: A little stress can keep you on your toes.

P6: People react to stress in different ways.
T: In what way does stress affect people?

P1: The heart speeds up.

P2: The gut slows down.

P3: Breathing becomes shallow.

P4: Adrenaline is released into the bloodstream.

P5: Facial muscles snarl and frown.

P6: Stress causes headaches, depression, forgetfulness, low self-esteem.

P7: Stress can have a negative influence not only on our health, but on the lives of people around us. We lose control and shout at our relatives and friends. So, we hurt their feelings and make them feel depressed too.

T: What can cause stress?

P1, P2: Hard work, problems at school, problems with appearance and weight, exam pressure, car accidents, loosing a job, unhappy love, shortage of money.

P2: Changes for the better can also cause stress, like a new baby, a wedding, a new house.
3. Развитие умений перевода визуальной информации в вербальную информацию (чтение диаграммы).

T: I asked Julia to make a survey and find out which of you have ever been under stress and what were the reasons for it. She asked you to express your attitude to the following situations (слайд 6):

  • answering at the blackboard

  • taking part in olympiads and competitions

  • taking exams

  • speaking in public

  • thinking about the future

  • generation gap

  • misunderstanding between teachers and pupils

  • problems with friends

T: Let’s listen to her analysis (учащийся выступает с анализом анкетирования, используя диаграмму на слайде).
4. Развитие навыков чтения с полным пониманием прочитанного. Развитие навыков монологической речи на основе прочитанного текста.

T: As you see, there are few pupils who need help. The good news, however, is that you can deal with stress before it gets out of hand. Look through the article about stress once again. Be ready to speak about A-B-Cs that help people to cope with stress. Work in groups. One letter is for one group. Share your ideas in groups. One of you will present them to the whole class. You may use your life experience (слайд 7 – A-B-C; дальше показываем по одному слайду с отдельными буквами – слайды 8, 9, 10; после 2-х минут обсуждения учащиеся выступают с монологами).
5. Минута релаксации.

T: Thanks a lot for your advice. I’m sure, these A-B-Cs will be really helpful for you. Before we go on with our work, let’s listen to a piece of music. As Maxim says, it’s a good way to feel relaxed (включаем музыку).


6. Развитие навыков аудирования.

T: It’s a good idea to ask your friend for help if you feel stressed out or if you are down. You are going to listen to a radio interview with some teens talking about ways they’ve helped friends in trouble. You have this task for auding on your desks. It’s card number 2. Match the speakers with the statements A-G. There is one extra statement. It’s the task based our Russian National Exam. (дети выполняют задание самостоятельно). Here is the key (слайд 11). (самопроверка) На диске текст записан 2раза.
7. Решение проблемных ситуаций (групповая работа).

T: Well done. Where else can people go if they suffer from stressful situations? You are quite right – to a psychologist. Imagine, you are psychologists and you can be helpful. Give your pieces of advice to people who asked you for help. You can see three stressful situations on the screen, one for each group. Say what you would do in this or that situation to cope with stress. You have some time to discuss them in your groups. Share your ideas with each other and then one of you will present the results (все три ситуации появляются на экране – слайд 12, они есть у учащихся на столе тоже, дети обсуждают их 2 минуты, а затем по одному человеку из группы выступают с решением; в этот момент на экране высвечивается данная ситуация – слайд 13, 14, 15).
1. My best friend has fallen ill and he asked me to go to the chemist’s to buy some medicine. I’ve gladly agreed to help him. Standing in the queue I suddenly realize that I’ve lost my friend’s purse with a large sum of money in it. I am shocked and don’t know what to do.

2. I am the first year student of the university. I am taking my first exam. I am absolutely calm and self-confident as I know the subject very well. I am taking a question card and feel a cramp in the stomach. I don’t remember the answer to the question.

3. I’ve been asked to baby-sit my 5-year-old nephew. My sister has promised that he will be sleeping the whole evening so I will have no trouble with him. And now when she has left I am locked in her house with a crying child who is having a fit of hysterics and I don’t know what to do to calm him down.

T: Which of you will present your ideas?

T: Thanks for your ideas. They were really great.

T: It’s a pity, we have no time to listen to other pupils. I know, you have your own group in the social network “Vkontakte”. Discuss these stressful situations in your group. Find the ways out and be ready to speak about them at our next lesson (если не успеваем по времени0.
IV. Подведение итогов урока. Рефлексия.

(Фаза рефлексии)

1. Релаксация. Чтение стихотворения.

T: Well, to crown everything I’d like to draw your attention to the poem you have in your book. I want Igor to recite it (учащийся читает стихотворение из учебника с. 28). I know Lera has translated it into Russian. Let’s listen to her.

T: Would you like to write a poem yourself?

2. Написание синквейна по теме

T: It is called a cinquain.

You will express the main ideas of our lesson in it. It has the following structure (слайд 16):


Cinquain
1 line a noun
2 line an adjective + an adjective
3 line a verb + a verb + a verb
4 line a phrase or a sentence
5 line a summary (usually 1word) (слайд)
T: Write down your cinquains on these colourful sheets of paper. Choose the best to your mind and read it aloud (учащиеся записывают свои синквейны на красочных листах бумаги, работая 1-2 минуты).

V. Объяснение домашнего задания.
T: I’m sure you have become real experts now and you can give good advice to Katy who feels totally stressed out about her exams. Remember the rules of writing a personal letter. It’s the task from our RNE (Слайд 18; учащиеся получают карточки с заданием – отрывок из письма).
In your letter:


  • answer her questions, give her advice;

  • ask three questions about your trip to England.

Write 100-140 words.
... I’m getting ready for my A-levels at the moment. It’s rather difficult for me to remember all the necessary facts and figures. I’m totally stressed out about it. I really need to do something. Do you find it easy to revise? Do you study at night? Is there any advice you could give me?

And another thing! My parents say you could come and visit us in summer. Would you like to? …


T: Thanks a lot for your work. You really take the cake today (слайд 19).
